Preadmission Clinic - Cardiology
Patients attend pre-admission clinic in order to carry out necessary investigations prior to the procedure. The clinic reduces the amount of time needed spent in hospital and gives the patient an opportunity to ask questions.
Unfortunately, some of the departments that the patient needs to attend for investigations may be busy patients may have to wait. Two hours should be allowed for the appointment .
Some important points to remember
1. Patients may eat and drink as normal.
2. Patients should bring either tablets or a list of what tablets they are taking.
3. Patients should write down any questions they would like to ask as they may forget them.
The clinic is held on Ward 16 in the Orange Zone. Patients should report to the Ward Clerk on arrival and will be shown where to wait. We apologise in advance for any delays that patients may experience.
Blood samples will be taken and patients will be sent for a chest X-ray and an electrocardiogram (ECG). Patients will be seen by a doctor who will take down a medical history, explain what will happen and ask for a signature on a consent form.
